Water sources in India are primarily of two types, Subsoil water (wells etc.) and Topsoil water (rivers, ponds, sea etc.). Both these sources have high dissolved impurities like arsenic, fluoride, excess salts and various biological contaminants (bacteria, viruses, pollutants and industrial wastes).

WATER VENDING MACHINE

Water Vending Machine (WVM) is an automated water purification system consisting of pre-treatment, reverse osmosis and disinfection and a hybrid dispensation system enabling manual and coin-operated dispensing.
